What are the Risk Manager of the Year and Risk Management Honor Roll awards?
Business Insurance has sponsored and administered the awards for more than 30 years. The awards recognize outstanding risk managers and risk management programs. The awards are widely regarded as some of the most prestigious awards in the risk management sector.

Who is eligible to be nominated?
Anyone that manages risk at their organizations. Nominees often have formal risk management titles but an executive, such as a CFO or treasurer, that carries out the risk management function for their organization is also eligible. Nominations are accepted for risk managers at organizations worldwide.

Who can make a nomination?
Anyone familiar with the work of the candidate. Nominees often contribute to the nominations, in fact, it would be difficult to the complete the Part II nomination without the participation of the candidate.

What’s the deadline?
The deadline for the Part II nominations is Monday, February 1, 2016.

When will the winners be notified?
Sometime in February. The winners will be profiled in the April 11 edition of Business Insurance and an awards ceremony will take place on April 12 at the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.’s annual conference and exhibition in San Diego.

What makes a good nomination?
A strong narrative backed up data. For example, the candidate reduced the total cost of risk by xx%, reduced claims costs by xx%, reduced total premiums spend by $xxxx etc. Examples of innovation in the field of risk management also contribute to a strong narrative. Please remember that this is not a lifetime achievement award so please include examples of success from the past few years. The judges use only the information presented in the nomination form.
